In seminary, we learned that parts of the Bible are in fact "myth." However, in Theological terms, myth means a story that speaks of truth, but for which the details may not be true in and of themselves.

You can find something similar in a grade 1 math textbook. "Sally has 3 apples, and Johnny has 2 apples. How many do they have together?" A logical person will realize that Sally and Johnny do not actually exists. However, this does not negate the 2+3=? problem, and does not mean that the entire textbook is myth.

The Bible has many, many genres of writing in it, only some of which is history. It isn't even a single book - but a compendium of many books, again, of different types.

So, only parts of the Bible are myth, and even those parts still tell truth - like a math textbook. The mythical stories are there for a reason - for us to learn about God.

Yes, so you will let go of pride and really look for God then before declaring He does not exist? If God does not reveal Himself to you when you humbly search for Him you cannot be blamed for thinking He does not exist, however: I know God and He will not do that. It seems only people who are proud does not think that He exist.

All religions from the caveman started with people creating stories of how they came to be. All the stories are based on an element of truth.(native American, Australian Aboriginal, etc). Bible stories are the same. They are based on an element of truth to explain events that happened. There is a difference between stories that have been handed down through the generations and fact.

Not better, but you can do that if you must.

As long as you do the same for all ancient history (Just so that you are consistent).
